WhatsApp Starts Rolling Out Message Translations on iOS and Android

WhatsApp has officially begun rolling out a highly anticipated feature: message translations on both iOS and Android platforms. This feature allows users to seamlessly translate messages into multiple languages, enhancing communication for its diverse user base. Starting today, Android users can translate messages between six languages: English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic. iPhone users are expected to have similar capabilities, linking directly with Apple’s Translate app.

To translate a message, users can simply long-press the desired message, select “Translate,” and choose the target language. An additional bonus for Android users is the ability to enable automatic translation for entire chats, making multilingual conversations even easier.

Privacy remains a top priority for WhatsApp; translations are handled directly on users’ devices, ensuring that encrypted chats stay private. Relevant language packs will be downloaded to support future translations. The feature is available for one-on-one chats, group conversations, and Channel updates, and WhatsApp plans to expand language support over time.

At this moment, there is no information regarding the addition of message translations on WhatsApp’s web platform or Windows app. Users may find a notice on WhatsApp’s support page indicating that the feature might not be available for everyone yet. To stay updated, it is recommended to keep the app updated on your device.

As WhatsApp continues to evolve and cater to its vast user base, the introduction of message translations underscores its commitment to improving user experience. Are you excited about this new feature? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
