Threads Reaches 150 Million Daily Users and is Ramping Up Ads

Meta’s Threads has achieved a remarkable milestone, growing to 150 million daily active users. Mark Zuckerberg announced this achievement during the company’s third-quarter earnings call, reinforcing Threads’ position as a leading contender in the social media landscape. This surge follows a previous report from August revealing the app had surpassed 400 million monthly users.

Zuckerberg suggested that Threads could evolve into Meta’s next billion-user platform, asserting it is on track to dominate its category. He noted a 10% increase in time spent on the app, attributing this growth to enhanced AI-driven recommendation systems.

Adding to the excitement, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri revealed that Meta is actively exploring algorithm personalization for Threads. This initiative includes testing enhancements to Instagram’s recommendation algorithms, promising a more tailored user experience.

As Threads continues to evolve, Meta has also begun ramping up advertising on the platform. During the call, CFO Susan Li announced that global ads are now part of the Threads feed. Earlier this year, Threads saw ads rolled out in 30 countries, and this week, Meta disclosed plans to broaden ad formats on the platform to include video ads. “We’re following our typical monetization playbook by optimizing ad formats and performance,” Li stated.

With a growing user base and increased advertising efforts, Threads is poised for significant expansion. Have you tried Threads yet? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
