Snapchat Introduces a Paid Storage Option for All the Memories Hoarders Out There
Snapchat is making waves with its new paid storage option for users who love to stockpile their cherished Memories. Since its launch in 2016, Snapchat’s Memories feature has allowed users to save over one trillion Snaps, but now Snap is enforcing a storage limit of 5GB. For those who have accumulated more, the company has introduced “Memories Storage Plans,” starting at an affordable $1.99 per month for up to 100GB of storage.
In an official press release, Snap revealed that Snapchat+ subscribers can access up to 250GB for $3.99 a month, while Platinum subscribers will enjoy a whopping 5TB with their $15.99 subscription. This new offering aims to cater to the vast number of users looking for ways to manage their Memories without the hassle of hitting a storage cap.
To make the transition smoother, Snap plans to gift users who exceed 5GB a free year of additional temporary storage. While most users currently remain under the new limit, those with extensive collections of Snaps may find this adjustment beneficial.
This shift comes on the heels of other subscription services offered by Snap, including its recent Lens+ subscription for augmented reality filters. As Snapchat continues to innovate, it is clear that the platform is keen to meet the evolving needs of its dedicated user base.
