Title: Proton Mail’s Redesigned Mobile App is Built for Speed

Proton Mail users can expect a significant enhancement on their mobile devices, as the company unveils its newly redesigned mobile applications for both Android and iOS. The latest update promises a cleaner, faster, and more private experience, having been completely rebuilt from the ground up. Proton Mail’s revamp, first announced in April, focuses on improving user engagement while emphasizing user privacy.

Speed is a key feature of the new Proton Mail app. Users can scroll, archive, and reply to emails up to twice as fast as prior versions. The app also introduces an offline mode, allowing users to read, write, and organize their messages even when they are not connected to the internet. Navigation has also been streamlined, with a redesigned interface that makes core functionalities, like the composer button, more accessible.

Both the iOS and Android apps now share a common codebase, which means they utilize 80% of the same code. This development will enable Proton to roll out updates much faster and almost simultaneously across both platforms.

Product lead Anant Vijay Singh attributes these enhancements to user feedback and Proton’s dedication to privacy. “The new Proton Mail mobile apps reflect this feedback and demonstrate what’s achievable when an email app doesn’t have to monetize user data, resulting in a cleaner, faster, and more private experience,” he stated.

In addition to the mobile app overhaul, Proton is also working on upgrades for its Calendar feature, which promises similar user experience improvements. The company is even entering the AI space with its new chatbot, Lumo, focusing on ethical interactions.

Proton Mail’s updates are now available for download in the App Store and Play Store. What do you think about these improvements? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
