Unlike traditional search options that require a specific query, Pinterest Assistant caters to more open-ended requests. For instance, when you ask for pillows to complement your “living room decor,” the AI evaluates your saved items and custom boards. It draws from patterns in user preferences within the Pinterest community to offer tailored, visually appealing results.

The primary interaction method with this new feature is through a mic icon. By clicking on it, you can initiate a voice search, allowing Pinterest Assistant to process your audio prompts and seek out the most relevant visual content—essentially mimicking in-person shopping experiences.

As Pinterest embraces AI technology, it faces challenges. Users have expressed concerns about the increasing volume of AI-generated content making it difficult to find genuine products. In response, Pinterest has begun labeling AI-generated material and offering features to limit its presence in user feeds.
