NVIDIA Starts Selling Its $3,999 DGX Spark AI Developer PC
NVIDIA has officially released its highly anticipated DGX Spark AI developer PC for $3,999, as announced today. This compact device, albeit small in size, houses an extensive AI platform consisting of powerful GPUs, CPUs, and NVIDIA’s advanced AI software stack, tailored for developers, researchers, and data scientists.
The DGX Spark isn’t aimed at casual gamers, but rather provides enough computational power to manage intricate AI models. Early adopters of the device include notable names like Anaconda, Google, Hugging Face, Meta, and Microsoft. In a memorable moment, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang personally delivered a unit to Elon Musk at SpaceX’s headquarters.
Despite its lightweight 2.6-pound design, the DGX Spark packs a punch with its NVIDIA GB10 super system-on-chip, integrating a 20-core ARM CPU with an equally powerful Blackwell GPU. This setup is complemented by 128GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 4TB of NVMe storage, along with USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 7, and HDMI connectivity. NVIDIA proudly describes it as “the world’s smallest AI supercomputer.”
Running on a custom version of Ubuntu Linux—DGX OS—the Spark enables developers access to a suite of NVIDIA AI models, libraries, and microservices to refine processes like image generation and chatbot creation.
As the first of its kind, the DGX Spark opens the door for similar machines from other companies, with brands like Dell, HP, and Lenovo showcasing comparable mini PCs using the GB10 chip at Computex. The device is now available through NVIDIA and its partners for $3,999, a price many in the AI community may find justified considering the technical capabilities it offers.
In the evolving landscape of AI development, NVIDIA is also gearing up for the launch of its next-generation DGX Station featuring even more advanced hardware. What are your thoughts on the DGX Spark? Share in the comments below!
