Google has officially rolled out an exciting update to its Veo AI video generation model, now known as Veo 3.1. This latest iteration promises enhanced capabilities in converting images into videos and adhering more closely to user prompts. Aspiring creators can experiment with Veo 3.1 today through Google’s Gemini API, and the model is integrated into the company’s Flow video editor for additional functionality.

Veo 3.1 builds upon the previously launched Veo 3, introduced at Google I/O 2025. This update focuses on improving “prompt adherence,” allowing users to upload images alongside their textual prompts more effectively. Unlike its predecessor, Veo 3.1 offers the groundbreaking ability to generate audio simultaneously while converting images to video.

In the Flow video editor, a standout feature of Veo 3.1, called “Frame to Video,” enables users to upload a first and last frame, generating a seamless video in between. While Adobe Firefly, powered by Veo 3, presents a similar function, Flow uniquely creates audio tracks concurrently, enriching the user experience. The added audio capabilities also enhance the functionality of extending clips and inserting objects into existing footage.
