Google Adds Agentic AI Checkout to Shopping
Google has recently announced the introduction of new AI-powered shopping features aimed at enhancing the online shopping experience. This includes a revolutionary agentic checkout option, enabling shoppers to effortlessly find and purchase items at their desired price. Utilizing Google’s innovative price-tracking technology, customers can establish a target price for products. When the price drops to their specified amount, Google’s AI will facilitate the purchase—after users confirm their shipping details via Google Pay. Currently, agentic checkout is available to U.S. shoppers on select retailers like Wayfair and Chewy, with plans to add more sellers in the future.
Additionally, Google is expanding its AI Mode, which enhances conversational search capabilities, allowing users to make more specific queries when shopping. The results will be tailored to suit the nature of the search—showing shoppable images for visual queries or detailed comparisons for items being considered.
Moreover, Google’s AI, called Gemini, can now call local businesses to inquire about product availability. This feature will help users find pertinent information about prices, stock levels, and ongoing promotions, with results sent directly to the user via email. The service will initially cover categories like toys, health and beauty, and electronics.
In a bid to stay competitive, Google is continuously evolving its shopping tools, which already include features like virtual clothing try-ons and advanced shoe shopping solutions. With these exciting updates, Google is solidifying its position in the evolving landscape of AI-driven shopping.
