ChatGPT Group Chats Roll Out to Everyone

OpenAI has officially announced the rollout of group chats in ChatGPT to all logged-in users globally on various plans, including ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. This feature comes after a successful testing period, which began about a week ago in countries like Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan. The introduction of group chats enables users to invite up to 20 participants either with their existing ChatGPT accounts or through newly created accounts via an invite link.

With group chats, users can collaborate and prompt ChatGPT together, reacting to each other’s messages in real time. However, OpenAI has opted for a more controlled environment to ensure user privacy; group chat content is not stored in ChatGPT’s memory, and any participant, except the chat creator, can be removed at any time.

While OpenAI has been exploring social media features, including a text-based feed that is yet to launch, this new group chat initiative offers a unique way for users to interact. The group chat feature may not entirely replace messaging apps like Messenger, but it provides an engaging and interactive AI experience akin to services that Meta is developing for platforms like Instagram.

As more users embrace this innovation, it’s a thrilling time to see how ChatGPT will continue to evolve in facilitating group discussions and collaboration. What are your thoughts on group chats in ChatGPT? Feel free to share your insights or experiences in the comments below!
