DJI’s Osmo Mobile 8 Gimbal Adds Pet Tracking and Apple DockKit Support
DJI has recently launched its newest smartphone gimbal, the Osmo Mobile 8, enhancing capabilities for users in creative ways. Following its earlier release in China, the Osmo Mobile 8 now features Apple DockKit support, addressing a previous limitation that affected the user experience with certain apps. This enhanced compatibility elevates the tracking experience for creators using native iPhone camera applications and over 200 iOS apps integrated with DockKit.
The Osmo Mobile 8 retains the sleek design of its predecessor, the Osmo Mobile 7P, while introducing significant improvements, including 360-degree panning and a novel pet tracking feature. This allows users to easily capture their pets, whether they’re playful cats or energetic dogs, all while using the advanced tracking tech provided by DJI. The Multifunctional Module attaches securely to the gimbal’s magnetic phone mount, adding a powerful LED fill light and enabling seamless tracking of both people and pets.
One standout enhancement is the updated pan axis, which allows for continuous rotation, making it easier to track moving subjects around the gimbal. Weighing just 0.8 pounds, the Osmo Mobile 8 offers greater comfort for extended shooting sessions, especially for low-angle shots. Utilizing DJI’s Mimo app, users can take advantage of ActiveTrack 7.0.1, which ensures subjects remain in focus even in dynamic environments.
The Osmo Mobile 8 is now available in Europe for €159, with U.S. pricing anticipated soon. As consumers increasingly seek versatile tools for content creation, the Osmo Mobile 8 stands out with its innovative features designed for both professionals and pet owners alike.
